The legend of the Lake
A legend tells of the origin of the Lake Anterselva:
Three prosperous farms once stood where the lake now occupies the
valley. There was a church fair. A beggar had found his way there. He
went from farm to farm. However, no-one gave him anything and he was
turned away. With a hard heart. And they just laughed at the curse of
the beggar. He said: "Watch, behind your house a spring will arise.
Just watch what will happen." And soon the once rich farms had sunk
beneath the waters.
Still today the springs supply water to the Lake
Anterselva, giving it the clarity which the once so arrogant
inhabitants of the farms may have lacked.
